Huge Interest at the Recent National Heavy Equipment Show in Toronto
HCEA Canada’s display at the National Heavy Equipment Show held in early March garnered great interest from the 5,000 construction trade show attendees.
Initially drawn to the booth by James Dick’s fully restored 1946 Caterpillar D2, the crowd often blocked the aisle checking out the rest of the display and watching the video of our Wheels & Tracks Show.
HCEA club volunteers and Simcoe County Museum staff including Roger Cox and Shaughna Crew supplied info, show brochures and answered questions about our restoration activities and upcoming events. Several new members signed up and a prominent Ontario contractor in attendance even offered a piece of antique equipment for possible donation to HCEA Canada – more about that in an upcoming issue of our club newsletter Dominion Iron!
Huge thanks are in order to James Dick for providing and transporting another of his pristinely restored machines for display at the show.
Appreciation as well to Show Manager, Mr. Mark Cusack, for arranging the booth space for our club’s use for the third consecutive show event and to Simcoe County Museum Curator, Kelley Swift-Jones for arranging logistical support.
Many HCEA Canada club members volunteered their time to plan, set up and man the exhibit for the duration of the show. Among them: Carl Avis, John Carrington, Norm Etheridge, Bruce Goss, Bill Hallahan, Fred Herman, John Hoover, Reg Johnston, Stan Lougheed, Ed McElhone, Bill Mitchell, Don Morton, Frank Rooney, Mike Rooney, Doug Sawyer, Don Shiell, and Murray Wendover.
